MACMILLAN ENGLISH CAMPUS BREAKS INTO NEW LANGUAGE MARKETS

The Macmillan English Campus is an online practice environment for learners of English as a foreign language. The English Campus team is now located in the London offices of Macmillan Publishers Ltd as a new company within the Macmillan group. This move heralds increased commitment and investment in ELT electronic publishing by Macmillan.

Macmillan English Campus has recently signed new contracts with customers across the world.

Macmillan English Campus forges ahead in Latin America

Macmillan is delighted to announce that Cultura Inglesa São Paulo in Brazil, the development partner and first customer for the English Campus, has renewed its contract for a further four years. Over 41,000 Cultura students now use the English Campus across 22 units in the region. The network has already enjoyed many benefits from using the English Campus in their schools. Lorraine de Matos, General Manager of Cultura Inglesa São Paulo, comments: ‘The Macmillan English Campus has given our teachers a powerful new resource to enliven and enrich their teaching […] As a result, our schools have a competitive advantage over their rivals and we have a unique proposition with which to attract new students’.

Macmillan is also pleased to announce that more schools in Brazil, the Association Culturas Inglesas in the North-East (ACINE), have signed contracts to use the English Campus. Eight schools in total, including branches in Recife, Olinda and Salvador, will begin using the English Campus from September 2005.

Macmillan English Campus - Product home screenshotIn Chile, the Instituto Chileno Británico de Cultura has signed a four year contract with Macmillan English Campus. The Británico network, with head offices in Santiago, is a not-for-profit organisation established to create stronger ties between Chile and the UK.

 

Existing partner ILCE/ SEP, the Government teacher training organisation in Mexico, has also decided to extend its association with the English Campus. It is proposing that all teachers at both primary and secondary levels should have access to the programme to improve their linguistic ability.

Macmillan English Campus secures contracts with other international partners

The Macmillan English Campus team is delighted to announce major new deals in other parts of the world. The International House World Organisation has signed an agreement to provide the English Campus to its affiliate schools.

The International House organisation was established in 1953 and is widely recognised as being committed to the highest standards of teaching and teacher training. The organisation has over 120 schools in more than 40 countries, with over 100,000 students worldwide enrolling every year. Each school is individually owned and managed, and each will be able to buy into the Macmillan English Campus service via IHWO headquarters in London.

In Italy, leading language teaching centre Training Club has signed a reseller agreement enabling them to sell Macmillan English Campus into universities and corporations throughout the country. The Training Club, which is based in the centre of Rome, counts numerous well-known business and government institutions among its clients. Training Club is already the reseller of the 'Reward' CDRom, which to date has sold over 25,000 units in Italy.
